About Us

 

The Somaliland Pastoral Forum (SOLPAF) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-partisan, development oriented and voluntary organization that carries out activities based on the established laws, rules and regulations of Somaliland and in accordance with its internal rules of procedure and Memorandum of Association which  was founded in 2006 with the vision, mission and programmatic objectives to facilitate the coordination and collective efforts of addressing the issues of the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Somaliland at the local, national, regional and international levels. Its Mission is “to the empowerment of pastoralists and agro-pastoralists to secure their livelihoods, influence institutions to be responsive to pastoralists and agro-pastoralists’ needs and to promote stronger shared understanding to pastoral development approaches”. SOLPAF undertakes coordination, advocacy, lobbying, civic education and community development planning to promote the well-being, security and dignity of pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in Somaliland.

 

The goal of the organization is to Advocate and Lobby for pastoral and agro-pastoral rights and livelihood security at different levels by harnessing their potential to voluntarily participate meaningfully in development activities aimed at improving the quality of life of the community.

On 2006 the organization was registered under Somaliland societies Act 2006, its registration No is (L.43.13.507.2013./MJ).

Mission

Facilitate the Empowerment of thepastoralists and agro-pastoralists to secure sustainable livelihoods and influence institutions to be responsive to their rights and to promote stronger shared understanding to pastoral development approaches.

OUR OBJECTIVIES

  • Advocate and Lobby for pastoral and agro-pastoral rights and livelihood security at different levels.
  • Establish pastoral and agro-pastoral coordination and Networking Mechanisms 
  • Facilitate formation of alliances among stakeholders
  • Promote development and harmonization of pastoral and agro-pastoral friendly policies

        Promote introduction and implementation of Environmental protection and regulatory aws and policies

  • Improve institutional capacities of communities and national level organizations
